When you purchase quilting fabric, do you prefer that the store tear or cut the fabric?

Do either of you tat? I was curious, because you don't find many people doing that anymore. Yesterday I just pulled out my daughter's first Christmas dress, made by my Mom. She tatted a very pretty trim for the bodice.
