I’m like my Dad: I read a lot of books. The books I read are almost always fiction, but spread across all different genres: historical fiction, mystery, thrillers, science fiction, cozy mysteries, and of course one of my favorites: fiber arts fiction! Even though I’m primarily a quilter, I do occasionally knit and embroider, which means I love fiber arts fiction of all kinds: quilting fiction, knitting fiction, embroidery and cross stitch fiction.
Fiber Arts Fiction Friday
My love for quilting and all things fiction are the inspiration behind the Fiber Arts Fiction Friday series. (Every Friday I publish a new book review of a fiber arts fiction book!) I love sharing the different books I read, and what I enjoyed about each book.
Each post includes a detailed synopsis of the book, but no major spoilers, my review, and a wrap up of final thoughts. I keep a list of fiber arts fiction books on its own page and link up the reviews when a new one is posted.
Journaling About My Fiber Arts Fiction Finishes
I’m also experimenting with writing a journal page for each fiber arts fiction book that I finish. To keep it simple, I made a printable journal template that I print out for my paper planner. It takes me less than five minutes to fill out a journal page for each book, and I’ve enjoyed leafing through them to revisit the stories.
On each page I write:
- Name of book
- Author
- Type of fiber arts
- Very brief summary of the book (including spoilers!)
- Favorite parts
- Any dislikes
As you can see in the above photo, I’ve kept the journaling page VERY simple. I like having that extra white space around the edges of the page for doodling, adding stickers, or even just the name of the book in a colored marker!
Give It a Try!
If you haven’t ever read quilting or knitting fiction before, I encourage you to give it a try! Many fiber arts fiction books are part of a longer series, and it’s great to find your favorite characters and follow their stories through the books.
Give journaling a try by downloading a FREE printable journaling worksheet. This printable is set up to print two journaling pages on a single piece of letter size (8.5” x 11”).
Once you’ve downloaded the journaling pages, just print them out on your home printer (be sure to select “fit” on your printer settings), cut the sheet in half, hole punch to add to your planner (if you use a paper planner) and fill them in as you complete each book! Enjoy decorating in the white space around each page, or leave it plain to let the books themselves shine through!
